Worth the Watch: 'Hugo'

Hugo, directed by none other than the inspiring Martin Scorsese, is a wonderfully light-hearted fantasy adventure. When an orphan boy called Hugo Cabret (Asa Butterfield) loses his father he is left with one thing, a mysterious robot. With the meaning of this robot gnawing away at him, he must embark on an adventure of discovery. He is all but lost until his chance encounter with Isabelle (Chloe Grace Moretz) turns into something more than chance, destiny perhaps. These two children must together find the meaning behind this robot's existence and why it has come into Hugo's possession.

Our two lead actors in this fantasy film are both extremely impressive and talented. Asa Butterfield, who you may recognise from such films as The Wolfman, Son of Rambow and The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas has already proved he has what it takes to make big films. With the cast in this film Asa will have undoubtedly been out to impress and prove to us, once again, why it is he has been given the lead role in this huge on screen adaptation of the children's novel The Invention of Hugo Cabret.

Chloe Grace Moretz should be a name we are all familiar with by now. She is an actor with outstanding talent and versatility and has already gained valuable experience with her film catalogue already which include; Let Me In, 500 Days of Summer and a personal favourite of mine Kick-Ass. She is more than capable of delivering an outstanding performance and I hope this film will provide us with just that.

As for the supporting cast, can you get better than Jude Law, Ray Winstone, Sacha Baron Cohen and Ben Kingsley. Now with these actors I feel that using the words supporting cast is undervaluing them, but to take away the attention from our two lead actors would be a crime, so supporting cast they remain. As if that wasn't enough to convince you to see this heart warming film, then maybe the name Martin Scorsese will do the trick, yep, thought that would work.

Hugo is set to be, in my books, one of the films to see this year. A film rarely comes out which has something in it for everyone, but as soon as I saw this trailer my mind was made up. With adventure, fantasy, comedy and an outstanding cast and crew, this film looks to be brilliant. So whether it is a family outing or a night out with the partner, Hugo should be the one to watch.

Hugo is released in cinemas everywhere November 23.
