Steven Spielberg reveals he was denied chance to direct a James Bond film

Steven Spielberg has directed many successful movies in his career but he never got the chance to direct a James Bond film.

The director revealed he wanted to shoot a Bond film in the late seventies but was denied the chance to, reports London's Daily Mail.

"I went to Cubby Broccoli and I asked if I could do one and he said: 'No.’ I’ve never asked again. Instead, I made the Indiana Jones series," Spielberg explained.

This didn't form a grudge against 007 for him, though, as he praised Sam Mendes, the director of Skyfall.

"‘I’ve seen it once and I’ll see it a second time," Spielberg said about Skyfall.

According to The Huffington Post, Spielberg's Lincoln is turning out to be another successful movie for the director. It is receiving major critical acclaim as well as being a possible Oscar contender.

The political thriller, Lincoln, stars Daniel-Day Lewis as President Abraham Lincoln and is in theaters now.
