Jack White slams Lady Gaga and celebrity culture in Esquire interview

Jack White opened up about how he really feels about various things like Lady Gaga and the whole culture that comes with being a celebrity in a recent interview.

White did not hold back his negative views of both Gaga and celebrity culture. In an interview with Esquire, he said Lady Gaga was living in "artifice" and that he hates how celebrities try to act "normal" on Twitter, reports Entertainment Wise.

"The goal of modern celebrity is to make yourself into the lowest common denominator. 'Hey, I'm a guy just like you. I like a beer, a football game.' Especially in reality television, you'll see people will go so far as to make a fool out of themselves just to prove that," White said, as quoted by The Huffington Post.

When he talked about Lady Gaga's music he said, "I don't think she lives it because it's all artifice. It's all image with no meaning behind it. You can't sink your teeth into it. It's a sound bite. It's very of this age, because that's what people want. They want a Twitter line, a jpeg, an MP3."

As for his feelings about Twitter, White thinks comedians are the only people who should have Twitter accounts "because it's all about one-liners. You don't want Gore Vidal telling you, 'I'm doing my dishes right now.'"

White isn't a stranger to controversy. In September he stormed off the stage out of nowhere at New York's Radio City Music Hall just 45 minutes into a sold out show, reports The Huffington Post. Over 100 fans surrounded the backstage exit to protest after the show ended early. Eventually, Yahoo News reported that White apparently wasn't happy with the sound system.
