CBS to air special episode of 'Hawaii Five-0' after AFC Championship

CBS has announced that a special episode of Hawaii Five-0 will air Sunday, January 20 after the AFC Championship football game.

Hawaii Five-0 usually airs Mondays at 10 p.m. but this special episode is a way the network can capitalize on the high viewership following the NFL playoff game, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Last year when the Baltimore Ravens played the New England Patriots, the AFC Championship game averaged more than 48 million viewers. The timeslot following this game is sometimes thought of as second only to the coveted post-Super Bowl timeslot, reports Entertainment Weekly. And this year CBS has chosen Elementary to air after the Super Bowl.

The special episode of Hawaii Five-0 will find Chin kidnapped and brought to Halawa Prison dressed as an inmate where he must fight for his life in order to escape before the prisoners recognize him as Five-0. Actress Lindsay Price is featured as a guest star.

Seven never-before-heard Jimi Hendrix tracks will also be featured in the episode. The seven tracks, "Bleeding Heart," "Mojo Man," "Hey Gypsy Boy," "Inside Out," "Crash Landing," "Hear My Train A Comin'" and "Somewhere," will be released as part of a new Hendrix album titled People, Hell and Angels on March 5.
