‘One Life To Live’ Online Reboot has Great Production Value, Quicker Storytelling and Big Surprises

The much anticipated One Life to Live online reboot premiered on Hulu, Hulu Plus and iTunes yesterday with swift storytelling, edgier looks and surprise character reveals.

One Life to Live’s Llanview got some scenery makeovers with a brighter looking Llanfair, Viki and Clint Buchannan’s home in addition to a new smokin’ nightclub called Shelter replacing the previous town hotspot, Ultraviolet.

Fans were brought up to date pretty quickly as to what their favorite characters have been up to since the last episode aired back in January of last year. Viki and Clint are planning their wedding as she’s hired a new reporter named Jeffrey King, [played by High School Musical alum Corbin Bleu,] who knows both Matthew [now played by Robert Gorrie] and Dani, to work at The Banner, and broke a major story involving Dorian, who blazed back into town amidst the breaking Washington scandal (and subsequent Banner headline) heading straight to David, who’s hip-deep in his own reality show, for comfort and of course her archenemy Viki, to place the blame, Téa is still mourning the loss of both her husband, Victor Jr. and the baby she thought was her son, Blair opened Shelter with Cutter and a now-separated Rama as its promoters, newly recast Destiny [now played by Laura Harrier] and Matthew aren’t together anymore and Destiny’s raising their son, Drew, on her own, while Matthew is clashing with parents Bo and Nora, Natalie (sans John) is raising a slightly SORAS’d Liam alone, and is seemingly susceptible to Cutter’s charms, Dani’s taking drugs to deal with the loss of her father and Todd re-emerged in town (with Jack still hating him) after spending time in General Hospital’s Port Charles.

But, the big surprise was Trevor St. John’s return as Victor, Jr. Last we saw of him, he was presumed dead after being shot by Todd but was really being held captive by Llanview’s favorite lunatic Alison Perkins. Téa’s shock at his reappearance might have rivaled fans reaction to his previously undisclosed return since his name was nowhere on the released cast list for the reboot. That’s the beauty of this genre…Always expect the unexpected!

With different camera angles, fabulous production value, bright new sets, an infusion of today’s latest music trends and a new 30-minute format that makes the storytelling move a lot faster, the One Life to Live online reboot seems like it’s ready to bring a cool new vibe to Llanview, Pennsylvania.
