Style Network Premiering: XOX Betsy Johnson

World Renowned fashion designer Betsey Johnson is about to have a major comeback. The vibrant 70-year-old legend will be appearing on TV screens this May. Johnson, who is known for doing cartwheels and splits down the runway, has a new reality TV show, XOX Betsey Johnson. The show that follows Betsey and her 37-year-old daughter Lulu, will give a glimpse into their career-evolved lives. The show, which is set to premiere on Mother’s Day, May 12, will likely be a hit among audiences as Betsey reclaims herself after filing for Bankruptcy in 2012.

After overcoming breast cancer and seeing her company collapse this spring, which resulted in the closing of all 63 stores, including the firing of 350 employees, she remains optimistic and has decided to reinvent herself and launch a line of dresses for company owner, Steve Madden, who will oversee a major re-launch of her label and start selling her collection in department stores, like Macy’s, worldwide. Madden told the Times: “He is confident that Betsey’s reinvention will be profitable in no time.”

In a recently released teaser, we see Johnson and her daughter going through some trying times, overcoming relationship issues, money problems, and traveling to Tokyo for inspiration for their new clothing line.

Relatable shows like, “The Rachel Zoe Project,” and “Kell on Earth,” which follow celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe and Fashion PR maven Kelly Cutrone, have proven to be a hit among viewers of a wide age range. People seem to enjoy shows revolving around the fashion industry that inspire them to follow their career goals. You can expect nothing less, and more as XOX Betsy Johnson will serve as inspiration for budding fashion designers to get working.

Filming has been in the works since August 2012, and at an age where most people are retiring, Betsy has worked non-stop with the same quirkiness, and youthful charismatic behavior that people have fallen in love with, and continues to expand her brand, hoping to make it bigger than ever before.
