George Michael still in hospital after car crash, is ‘making good progress’

Singer George Michael is still in the hospital after a dangerous car crash last week in England. A rep for the former Wham! member said that he is making progress, though.

As we previously reported, Michael was the passenger of a Range Rover that was involved in an accident on the M1 near St. Albans on Thursday afternoon. Five days later, and he is still in the hospital.

“Following the traffic accident on Thursday, we can confirm that he is still in hospital,” a rep for the “Faith” singer told The BBC. “We are keen to stress it's purely as a precaution for observation.”

The statement continues, “He did suffer a couple of bumps and bruises to the head and that's why they are keeping him in - to keep an eye on him. He is doing better. He is making good progress and is looking forward to getting out.”

According to Reuters, a woman who had seen the accident claimed in an interview with The Sun tabloid that she saw Michael fall from the vehicle. “There was a nasty cut on his forehead and the back of his head. There was blood all down his face and on his teeth,” she told the paper.

A Hertfordshire Police spokesman told the BBC that no other car was involved in the crash.

This is the latest incident for Michael, following a cancelled Australian tour in 2012. At the time, he cited ‘major anxiety’ as a result of his 2011 illness.
