Justin Bieber earns praise for stopping Turkey concert for Muslim prayer call

Justin Bieber is making some good news for a change while on his Believe tour in Europe. The pop star is earning praise for stopping his concert on Thursday in Istanbul, Turkey for the Muslim prayer call.

The singer stopped the concert twice for the Azan call for prayer, notes E! News. The call is sent five times a day from the city’s main mosque.

During the show, his fans took to Twitter to praise the move, calling him “respectful” and a “great man” for what he did.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, one Twitter user wrote, “You can hate all you want, but he earned my respect.” Another commented, “Muslim performers don’t even do what you did.”

However, his trip to Istanbul wasn’t completely smooth. Aceshowbiz notes that his security team argued with officials when he arrived on Wednesday. When his plane landed, Bieber and his team ran to their car, apparently without going through the proper checkpoints. Authorities kept their car from leaving the airport, but after they completed an inspection, they were allowed to leave.

Last week in Sweden, marijuana was found on his tour bus, but no charges were filed. He also had to deal with criticism for his Anne Frank comments when he visited the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam.
