Kanye West rants about celebrity status, debuts song about Kim Kardashian

Kanye West performed at the Adult Swim Upfront Party in New York City last night, and had some choice words about the paparazzi, his “celebrity” status, and his upcoming appearance on Saturday Night Live .

West’s performance included music from his currently untitled new album, including an ode to pregnant girlfriend Kim Kardashian, entitled “Awesome.” West offered a teaser of the ballad to his beloved during his performance at last week’s Met Gala. According to Hip Hop Wired the song features the touching lyric, "I'd rather do nothing with you than something new with somebody new.”

That was as heartfelt as West got last night, breaking into a rant about how he’s not a celebrity, because his focus is making “real music.” MTV News quotes the rapper as saying, “All I do is sit in the studio and make real, real sh--,” the rapper continues, “So I don't want nobody trying to run up on me with no cameras, trying to sell pictures and sh-- to magazines, asking me no dumbass questions, throwing me off of my focus and sh--.”

West’s concluded the rant by confirming that he will not be participating in any Saturday Night Live skits, kissing anyone’s babies, or acting like an inspirational figure because he’s not “running for office.”

Despite West’s insistence that he is not a celebrity, he is dating Kardashian, the reality-television-made super celebrity who, along with members of her family, has become one of the most photographed celebrities to date.

For more from West, tune in to Saturday Night Live this Saturday, May 18.
