NBC picks up J.J. Abrams pilot ‘Believe,’ ‘About A Boy’ and ‘Crisis’

NBC only had bad news for the casts and crews working on pilots on Wednesday, but today, the network began officially picking up the ones executives there have liked. These include the J.J. Abrams project Believe, About A Boy and Believe.

These shows have all earned series orders, notes Entertainment Weekly. The other shows the network committed to include Will & Grace star SEan Hayes’ new series, Sean Saves the World and the comedy The Family Guide, about a family that somehow grows closer thanks to a divorce.

Believe was written by director Alfonso Cuaron and centers on a young girl with a power that everyone is after. She teams up with an escaped convict who protects her. The cast for that features Johnny Sequoyah, Jake McLaughlin, Delroy Lindo.

About A Boy will star Minnie Driver with David Walton. It is based on the same Nick Hornsby novel that inspired the 2002 Hugh Grant movie and focuses on a bachelor who becomes friends with a geeky young boy.

Fans of Dermont Mulroney will love the news that Crisis got picked up as well, notes Deadline. That project comes from Life creator Rand Ravich.

The news comes just after NBC dropped several pilots out of contention and cancelled Deception.
