Philip Seymour Hoffman undergoes 10-day detox for relapse on drugs, including heroin

Veteran actor Phillip Seymour Hoffman has underwent treatment for relapsing. Hoffman got sober for over 20 years but he got back into drugs about a year ago. He just completed a 10-day detox and he’s already back to work.

Among his drug issues, Hoffman says he smoked heroin for about a week, and that’s when he, with the help of friends and family, realized he needed help. He started to get back into using drugs with prescription pills, but it catapulted all the way to heroin.

The actor told TMZ he checked out of the East Coast facility last Friday after just 10 days and credits "a great group of friends and family" for helping him through it.

Hoffman is now in Europe shooting a new movie. He will next be seen in Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

US Today reports the actor, who won an Oscar in 2006 for Capote, has three children with costume designer Mimi O'Donnell; Cooper, 10; Tallulah 6, and Willa, 4.
