Randy Jackson confirms exit from 'American Idol'

Randy Jackson has officially announced that he will be leaving ‘American Idol.’ After 12 years on the show, this season will be last. The announcement ends major speculation about the judge’s panel for next year. Rumors are still swirling whether or not the show will continue. Jackson has been the one and only judge who has been on ‘American Idol’ since its very first season. Mariah Carey, Nikki Minaj, and Keith Urban are currently still judges on the show.

According to People , magazine the judge who has been at the show for the past 12 years released a statement saying, "Yo! Yo! Yo! I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry. It’s been a life changing opportunity but I am looking forward to focusing on my company Dream Merchant 21 and other business ventures.”‬

The Huffington Post also said that it is rumored Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber will be replacing the current judges. However, it is still unknown whether the show will stay on air, due to a decline in ratings over the past several seasons.

‪‘American Idol’ will have to completely revamp the competition, if the show producers hope to regain high audience popularity. The shows finale airs this Thursday, May 16, 8 ET/PT on Fox.
