Reese Witherspoon says 'hardest part' of arrest was telling her kids with Ryan Phillippe

Reese Witherspoon surprised many when she and husband Jim Toth were arrested on DUI and resisting arrest charges. She has since apologized for her behavior, but she’s once again talking about that night in an interview with Good Morning America.

Witherspoon, a mother of three, said "the hardest part about it” was telling her two older children with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe; Ava and Deacon. She also has a baby with Toth named Tennessee.

The Oscar winner said “We went out to a restaurant in Atlanta, and we had one too many glasses of wine.” She said because of “poor judgment,” they then got in the car to drive home.

“We thought we were fine to drive," she said, adding, "and we were absolutely not, and we are so sorry and just so embarrassed." She added, "We know better and we shouldn't have done that,” People reports.

Witherspoon, 34, also cleared up “We made a mistake, and it was something that will absolutely never happen again."

As for her behavior toward the arresting officer, the actress said "I was so disrespectful to him. I have police officers in my family. I work with police officers every day. I know better. It's just unacceptable."

She also revealed something she said to him that did not make it to the police report, saying "I have no idea what I was saying. That night I saw him arresting my husband, and I panicked. I said all kinds of crazy things. I said I was pregnant. I'm not pregnant. I said crazy things. I had no idea what I was talking about."
