Rich families said to hire handicap in order to bypass lines at Disney World

“The happiest place on Earth” just got a little more controversial after reports suggest that wealthy families are exploiting the handicap by hiring disabled guides in order to bypass lines.

“My daughter waited one minute to get on ‘It’s a Small World’ — the other kids had to wait 2 1/2 hours,” an anonymous mom states according to New York Post. “You can’t go to Disney without a tour concierge, this is how the 1 percent does Disney.”

The unidentified mother admits to hiring a disabled Dream Tours guide to drive around in a wheelchair with a disabled sign so she, her husband and two children would not have to wait in the lengthy lines throughout the park.

Disabled guests are offered a more accessible entrance rather than standing in lines which may contain a series of stairs to the ride. Disabled guests are allowed to bring up to six guests. The cost of purchasing the “black-market tour guide” ranges from $130/hr or $1,800 for eight hours.

Disney offers their own VIP package complete with fast passes to cut lines, but costs $310-380 per hour.

According to one family who uses the service, walking around with the disabled guest and bypassing lines is a way of showing they are part of the elite. “[W]hen you’re doing it, you’re affirming that you are one of the privileged insiders who has and shares this information,” she explains.

Global Grind reports that this information was exposed in a new book by Dr. Wednesday Martin entitled Primates of Park Avenue.
