Seth Meyers named new NBC 'Late Night' host

Seth Meyers is set to become the new host for NBC’s late-night show. He will be replacing Saturday Night Alum Jimmy Fallon.

Fallon will be taking over The Tonight Show from Jay Leno. Late Night is executively produced by Lorne Michaels who is also executive producer of SNL. Meyers will continue to work onSNL until the fall when he will have to start prepping for the 12:35am late night show according to Entertainment Weekly.

“We think Seth is one of the brightest, most insightful comedy writers and performers of his generation,” NBC entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt said in a statement released Sunday. “His years at SNL‘s Weekend Update desk, not to mention being head writer of the show for many seasons, helped him hone a topical brand of comedy that is perfect for the Late Night franchise.”

Meyers talked about his excitement to be the new host according to The Hollywood Reporter. “I only have to work for Lorne for five more years before I pay him back for the time I totaled his car,” Meyers shared “Twelve-thirty on NBC has long been incredible real estate. I hope I can do it justice.”
