The CW Fall 2013 schedule: ‘Vampire Diaries’ and spin-off ‘Originals’ to air on separate nights

The CW’s Fall 2013 schedule will see some changes from the 2012-2013 season. The network has decided to not give vampire fans a full two-hour block, opting to air The Vampire Diaries and its spin-off The Originals on different nights.

Arrow and Vampire Diaries will be used to launch new shows. On Wednesdays, the superhero series will be the lead-in for The Tomorrow People, which stars Robbie Amell in a group of humans who represent the next stage of our evolution, notes EW. Vampire diaries will be the lead-in for Reign on Thursdays. That features Adelaide Kane and tells the story of Mary Queen of Scots as a young girl.

In an interesting choice, The Carrie Diaries was scheduled for Fridays and will be paired with American’s Next Top Model.

HitFix notes that the CW has decided to start its fall shows in October, as is the network’s usual move. That way, the shows don't get lost in the shuffle of premieres on NBC, CBS, ABC and Fox.
