Thieves succeed with elaborate scheme to steal earnings from Justin Bieber and Bon Jovi's South Africa shows

After Justin Bieber’s show in Johannesburg, South Africa on Saturday night, thieves robbed the venue of nearly $300,000 cash. The cash was a combination of earnings from Bieber’s tour stop, and Bon Jovi’s from the night before.

The thieves had rope, hammers and other tools with them as they underwent an elaborate scheme to steal the cash at the Soccer City stadium, where the World Cup finals took place in 2010.

“The suspect had gained entry through the roof," police spokeswoman, Katlego Mogale, told Sky News. "They broke the tile ... of the bathroom between last night (Sunday) after the concert, and this morning."

The suspects stole money from a safe that an employee had put the money in before packing up and going home for the night on Saturday.

"In the interest of safety and security of our staff and in the light of an ongoing investigation, Big Concerts will not comment further on this incident," the entertainment promoter in South Africa told E! News.

Bieber has since wrapped up his Believe tour, but not without controversies.
