Toby Keith calls hometown resilient

Country musician Toby Keith calls the people of Oklahoma “resilient,” after a deadly tornado hit his hometown, Moore, Oklahoma on Monday.

Talking to Anderson Cooper on CNN, Keith remembered his time living in Moore, Okla., and riding his bicycle down the streets.

The country musician’s mother and sister still live in the devastated town. The tornado tore through Keith’s sister neighborhood. She luckily was with her mother, a mile away, when the tornado hit.

On his official website page, Toby Keith wrote a short message about the disaster.

“My heart and prayers go to those that have lost so much. But Moore is strong and we will preserve. God be with you all.”

According to Philly.com, the musician has started to plan a possible music benefit for the tornado victims. University of Oklahoma has already been contacted to host it on its football stadium.

“I know as soon as I start sending out some feelers that I’ll get a lot of people in there,” Keith said.
