‘Star Wars’ creator George Lucas marries Mellody Hobson at Skywalker Ranch

George Lucas, the creator of the Star Wars franchise, has now done the one thing that Jedis aren’t supposed to do: get married. The writer/director/producer married his longtime girlfriend Mellody Hobson over the weekend at his Skywalker Ranch in California.

A source for People confirms that they tied the knot Saturday night with plenty of members of the Hollywood elite in the audience. Samuel L. Jackson, who played Mace Windu in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, tweeted, “Let's give a Galactic shout out to Master George Lucas & his Bride Melodie on This their WEDDING DAY!! Congrats!!!!!!”

Ron Howard, who starred in Lucas’ American Graffiti, added, “George Lucas Melody Hobson wedding was joy to behold Bill Moyers service was beautiful, nothing short of profound. Congrats Mr&Mrs Lucas.”

Lucas and Hobson began dating in 2006 and they became engaged in January. Lucas was previously married to Marcia Lucas from 1969 to 1983.

Hobson is a chairman of the DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. board and is a contributor to ABC News. She also leads the Ariel Investments, LLC investment firm.

Lucas recently sold Lucasfilm to Disney for $4.05 billion, so the couple will get to have a really long honeymoon while director J.J. Abrams handles the new installment of the Star Wars franchise.
