Dunkin’ Donuts Glazed Donut Breakfast Sandwich launches nationwide this week

Just when you thought it was safe to go back to your local fast food restaurant, Dunkin’ Donuts has proven that America’s fast food chains are still interested in making fatty treats available. The chain is set to launch a Glazed Donut Breakfast Sandwich this week nationwide.

The sandwich features a fried egg and two strips of bacon between a split glazed donut.

If you haven’t had a heart attack yet just by reading that, it’s worth noting that Dunkin’ is actually marketing this as a healthier option to some of its other foods on the menu. The AP reports that the concoction is 360 calories, which is under the 390 calories for the turkey sausage sandwich (which was also supposed to be a healthier option).

Dunkin is based in Massachusetts, where the chain first tested the sandwich in April. While the chain has introduced healthier options like many others, the chains know that attention-grabbing treats like these give a sizeable sales boost. For example, Taco Bell’s Doritos Lacos Tacos is down as one of the chain’s best-selling items.

The Glazed Donut Breakfast Sandwich will be in stores nationwide on Friday, which is National Donut Day.

Dunkin also isn’t the only fast food chain grabbing headlines this week. Burger King also launched the hands-free whopper invention.
