Former Miss America winner called a streetwalker after congressional nomination

An Illinois chairman called Erika Harold, a former Miss America winner and a GOP congressional candidate, a streetwalker in a letter this past week.

The recent slander against Erika Harold, 33, came from the chairman of the Montgomery County Republican Party, Jim Allen, after she announced she would be running for Illinois’ 2014 Republican primary for 13th District against Representative Rodney Davis.

According to the Huffington Post, the letter sent to the Republican News Watch website had a racist overtone as Allen criticized Harold’s platform for advocating abstinence and against school bullying.

“The little queen touts her abstinence, and she won the crown because she got bullied in school – boohoo, kids are cruel, life sucks and you move on,” Allen wrote. “Now, Miss Queen is being used like a street walker, and her pimps are the DEMOCRAT PARTY and RINO REPUBLICANS.”

ABC News reported, Allen soon apologized to Harold and her political team for his inappropriate remarks. However, the editor for Republican News website, Doug Ibendahl, believes remarks like Allen’s is a reason why the GOP is struggling to attract minorities.

Prior to running for the Republican primary, the Harvard graduate won the 2003 Miss America contest.
