Health News: Argentina first to debut 'Coca-Cola Life,' Stevia, a natural sweetener cola

Here's some sweet news for Argentinians-- on Wednesday, Coca-Cola announced plans to sell stevia Coca-Cola, a sweetened cola without the added calories, called 'Coca-Cola Life.'

It's sweeter than regular sugar and has no calories!

However, according to HuffingtonPost , experts question whether or not stevia is in fact the healthy options for folks suffering from diabetes and obesity. Dr. Sharon R. Akabas, a director at Columbia University’s Institute of Human Nutrition, told The Huff Post that she was concerned by the couching of the stevia-sweetened beverage against the backdrop of Coca-Cola's anti-obesity campaign. "It gives the impression that [drinking stevia Sprite] is a really healthy thing to do," she said, "but it's still ... calories of sugar, which has no nutrients," says HuffingtonPost.

There are other products that offer low-cal options like Pepsi Zero or Dr Pepper 10.

The plan is to offer some lower calories soft drinks with less sugar to increase the obesity rate, starting with Argentina first!
