J.J. Abrams reveals production for 'Star Wars Episode VII' to begin in early 2014

It’s the news Star Wars fans have been waiting for: Disney’s Star Wars Episode VII will begin production in early 2014.

J.J. Abrams revealed the news Saturday at the Produced By conference where he discussed the production with Django Unchained producer Reginald Hudlin saying according to Deadline, “Most likely we are going to be moving to London at the end of the year for the Star Wars movie.”

Abrams notes that he would have preferred to film in Los Angeles, but that the decision was made before he was brought on to direct the film which first surfaced back in January.

Although the news that filming will begin in early 2014, that is all the Star Trek Into Darkness director would reveal. When asked about plot details, most notably if the upcoming films would center on the novels which have come out over the years, Abrams opted for a “no comment” as an answer.

“It is so massive and so important to people,” Abrams told Hudlin according to Variety. “I think the key to moving forward on something like this is honoring but not revering what came before.”

Episode VII has not received an official confirmation from Star Wars regulars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, but rumors to the contrary state that the three will most certainly return. In February sources stated that Ford had confirmed his attachment to the film, but the actor has not officially confirmed the news.
