Jim Carrey doesn't support the 'violence' in his movie 'Kick-Ass 2'

Jim Carrey is criticizing his own film Kick-Ass 2, which comes out on Aug. 16, for being too violent after the tragedy of Sandy Hook. The actor has taken to Twitter to let fans know he doesn’t support the kind of violence seen in the movie.

Carrey tweeted, “I did Kickass a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence.” He added:

Mark Millar, whose comic book series the movies are based on, has responded on his website, calling him “an actor like no other, an unpredictable force of nature who brings a layered warmth and humanity to his work as well as that unstoppable energy he's always been renowned for.”

However, he explains "As you may know, Jim is a passionate advocate of gun-control and I respect both his politics and his opinion, but I'm baffled by this sudden announcement as nothing seen in this picture wasn't in the screenplay eighteen months ago.”

He added, “Yes, the body-count is very high, but a movie called Kick-Ass 2 really has to do what it says on the tin.”

Carrey is an outspoken gun control advocate and he even tweeted about it back in March after the Aurora, Colorado shooting that claimed the lives of 12 people at a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises.

“My love to the victims in Colorado. The kid ws sick bt u who can still support automatic weapon sales r the real maniacs in this country,” he tweeted at the time.
