Patriots player Aaron Hernandez taken from home in handcuffs

New England Patriots star tight end Aaron Hernandez was taken from his North Attleborough, Massachusetts home Wednesday morning in handcuffs. It is still not known what he is being charged with, but Hernandez has been questioned by police in connection with a homicide.

According to Boston.com, several police cars, including an unmarked cruiser from the North Attleborough police, arrived at his home at 8:40 a.m. Officers in plainclothes approached the door and Hernandez answered without wearing a shirt. Five minutes later, police escorted him in cuffs out of his house with a white v-neck shirt.

The Associated Press tried to get a statement from Hernandez’s attorney Michael Fee and from the Bristol County district attorney, but both have not commented yet.

Hernandez was questioned by officers on June 18 after the body of Odin Lloyd, 27, was found the day before. The Boston Globe reported that he died of gunshot wounds and died where he was found by a jogger. Reporters have been camped outside Hernandez’s home since he was questioned.

Hernandez’s home is not far from Foxborough, where the Patriots play at Gillette Stadium. He has been a member of the team since he was drafted out of the University of Florida in 2010.
