Paula Deen promises to appear on ‘Today Show’ Wednesday after Food Network firing

Paula Deen has scheduled another Today Show appearance for Wednesday. This one comes under very different circumstances than her cancelled Friday appearance, since she has already been fired by the Food Network and QVC is still deciding on her future with them.

Following a story on Deen’s current situation, Matt Lauer told viewers that Deen has told him that she will be on the show this time. “She has told us she will be here this time,” Lauer said.

As we previously reported, Deen was supposed to be on the Today Show Friday morning, but she cited “exhaustion” for not showing up. At that point, the National Enquirer story about her deposition, in which she admitted to using the ‘n’-word and admitted to other shocking allegations, had just been confirmed as true by her reps.

But within hours, her situation quickly changed. She issued two apology videos, saying that what she did was wrong and that racism shouldn’t be tolerated. Within minutes of those videos being posted, the Food Network opted to not renew her contract. And now, QVC is still deciding what her future is with the home shopping network.

Deen’s Today Show interview with Lauer on Wednesday will be her first public appearance since the transcript of the deposition was published.
