Popular Florida sports bar collapses

Shucker’s Bar and Grill, a popular sports bar near Miami, Florida, collapsed into the waters of Biscayne Bay last night during the NBA finals. 24 of the 100 on the deck at the time were injured, two critically so.
Air rescue unites had to shine spotlights into the water as 50 unites of the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and divers pulled patrons out of the water, writes FoxNews.com. After extensive searching, rescuers confirmed that no one had been trapped under the building when it collapsed and everyone was safely retrieved from the water.
According to witnesses, the collapse was sudden and loud. “Everybody’s watching the game. It sounded like a freight train, then everyone was gone. The deck went down like a V,” said patron Chris Volz, who sat approximately 10 feet from the wreck, reports FoxNews.com.
According to the LATimes.com, structural engineer Morgan Villanueva was on scene shortly after the collapse. “I'm trying to see why the supports collapsed…If people were excited and jumping, it's going to be an additional load,” he said.
The Miami Heat beat the San Antonio Spurs 109 to 93, but it was a close game throughout the 4 quarters, likely the cause of the damage pictured above.
