Curvy woman asked to leave Missouri waterpark when management deems her swimsuit inappropriate

A curvy woman in Missouri was asked to leave a waterpark if she did not cover up her revealing bikini. The woman, Madelyn Sheaffer, said she was kicked out of Adventure Oasis Water Park in Independence, Mo. on Tuesday.

Sheaffer said she was asked by two employees to put shorts on because her bikini bottoms were too revealing, and when she asked to talk to their supervisor, she was told if she didn’t cover up she would have to leave.

“I just felt like I was singled out,” Sheaffer told KSHB. “I felt like it was both age and body discrimination and I felt like I could look around me and I could see a handful of other girls half my age, wearing the same size swimming suit and not being singled out and told to put on clothes or leave.”

As a result, Sheaffer filed a complaint with the waterpark and when cops arrived, she was escorted out.

“There are 16- or 18-year-old girls wearing just the same amount and no one’s criticizing them or making them feel ashamed or feel uncomfortable in their bodies,” she also said, NY Daily News reports.

A spokesperson for the city of Independence told KSHB that the manager has the last say about whether or not a person’s bathing suit is deemed inappropriate.

“It’s summer time. It’s a swimming pool,” Schaeffer said. “I’m wearing a swimming suit.”
