George Zimmerman stopped for speeding in Texas, was armed

George Zimmerman, who was found not guilty in the death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin earlier this month, was pulled over for speeding in North Texas over the weekend. He was armed, according to the officer’s dashboard camera video.

CBS DFW reports that Zimmerman was driving on Highway 80 in Forney, a city 20 miles east from Dallas on Saturday when he was pulled over, driving a Honda truck with a Florida license plate.

The incident was captured by the officer’s dashboard camera and can be heard responding, “Yes.” The officer performed a background check, but since he had no outstanding criminal issues, Zimmerman was allowed to go. He never left the car and the incident lasted only five minutes, reports TMZ.

Zimmerman did ask the officer if he recognized him from the trial coverage, but he did not. When asked where he was going, Zimmerman said, “Nowhere in particular.”

The 29-year-old Zimmerman was a neighborhood watch volunteer in February 2012 when he shot and killed Martin, who was not armed. He claimed it was self-defense. After a trial watched around the country, a six-panel jury found him not guilty of all charges.
