J.Cole continues to make his presence felt on the Billboard Charts

June 18 was one of the biggest days in hip-hop history. With superstar Kanye West releasing an album, along with rising stars J. Cole and Mac Miller, this figured to be a huge day for the genre.

All three artists sold over 100 thousand copies in the first week for the first time since 2006 when Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, and 2Pac, all did the same thing, reports Hotnewhiphop.

Kanye West was the lead man on the charts the first week, but, since then, J. Cole has proven to be the more consistent artist on the charts. After selling 320 thousand copies the first week, Kanye's Yeezus saw an 80 percent drop in sales and moved down to the number three spot on the charts, behind Cole's Born Sinner, and Wale's newly released The Gifted.

J. Cole sold 80 thousand copies in week two to keep his number two spot on the chart and is now in position to take over the number one spot on the billboard charts this week. Cole is set to sell 60 thousand copies this week and, with no new major releases this week, that will be good enough for the number one spot reports Allhiphop.

Hip-hop has recently been all over the charts, due to the historic day of June 18, and, while J. Cole lost the battle of the first week sales, he seems to have the edge in the battle of longevity.
