Kate Beckinsale unveils plaque honoring her late father

A new plaque brought Kate Beckinsale to tears in Nottinghamshire on Wednesday.

Kate Beckinsale, 39, attended a ceremony to unveil a plaque honoring her late father, Richard, at College House Junior School, according to the BBC News.

Richard Beckinsale attended the school in Chilwell, Nottinghamshire in the 1950s. He was best known for his work in the BBC sitcom Porridge as Lennie Godber, and in ITV sitcom Rising Damp as Alan Moore. Richard died from a heart attack in 1979 at the age of 31.

The Daily Mail reports, during the ceremony, Kate was seen crying as she remembered her father.

“It’s a real honor for the school to be part of this special occasion, dedicated to the memory of Richard Beckinsale,” said head teacher of the College House Junior School Mark North.

North hopes that current and future students will be inspired by Richard Beckinsale’s work.

Also attending the ceremony were Kate’s husband Len Wiseman, mother Judy Loe, ex-partner Michael Sheen, and comedian David Walliams.
