One Direction’s ‘Best Song Ever’ breaks Vevo record

One Direction’s “Best Song Ever” might not really be the best song in the history of music, but its premiere is the best news ever for Vevo, the music video streaming site. The song broke the record for the most views in 24 hours in the site’s history.

The new track premiered on Vevo Tuesday, showing off the group’s funny side as they poke fun at life in Hollywood.

On YouTube, the video has reached an astounding 19.8 million views and on Vevo, it is up to 18.8 million.

According to USA Today, the first 10.9 million views on Vevo came within the first 24 hours of the song being posted. That breaks the previous mark set by Miley Cyrus, whose “We Can’t Stop” reached 10.7 million views in its first 24 hours.

Of course, “Best Song Ever” isn’t the last One Direction even that fans of the British boy band have left this summer. On Aug. 11, they are performing at the Teen choice Awards on Fox and the Morgan Spurlock-directed One Direction: This Is Us opens in theaters on Aug. 30.

Starpulse notes that Niall Horan thanked fans on Twitter, writing, “Wow ! You guys broke the vevo 24 hour record! Wow! Thank you so much! Love you lots! #BestSongEver.”
