Pierce Brosnan's Daughter Dies of ovarian cancer

It's a devastating case of deja-vu for Irish actor Pierce Brosnan.

It has been over 20 years since the famous 007 actor lost his then wife, actress Cassandra Harris, to her battle with ovarian cancer. On June 28th, it was the same illness that took the life of the actor's 41-year-old daughter, Charlotte.

A source tells Us Weekly, "Pierce is besides himself, having to deal with this kind of loss again." Charlotte leaves behind a husband, Alex Smith. Together they had daughter, Isabella, 14, and a son, Lucas, who is 8.What makes the news more tragic is that Charlotte's children were hopeful for a possible recovery. An insider tells Us "There were moments of true hope where they thought [the cancer] had been beaten, that's what makes it so difficult." In Brosnan's new film, art imitates life. In Love is All You Need he actor plays a widower who falls in love with a hairdresser suffering from cancer. “I went through it all, very publicly. Such things draw a mark across your heart and it’s always a part of your life," Brosnan told the Mirror Online earlier this year. “To watch someone you love have their life eaten away – bit by bit, by this insidious and horrid disease – becomes an indelible part of your psyche.”

The 60-year-old actor married his second wife, journalist Keely Shaye Smith, in 2001. Together they have two children. We hope that the actor is able to grieve and seek solace during this very difficult time.
