President Obama to appear on ‘Tonight Show with Jay Leno’ again

President Barack Obama is going to appear on NBC’s The Tonight Show With Jay Leno this week, the network announced today.

NBC said in a statement that the president, who is currently in the first year of his second term, will be making his sixth appearance on the show and third since winning the Oval Office for the first time in 2008. The appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 6 and the topics will be the economy and jobs.

Obama first appeared on the show as a senator in December 2006 and October 2007. He became the first sitting U.S. President to be interviewed on a late night show in March 2009. He made another appearance in October 2011.

His last appearance was October 2012, just days before the election. During that interview Leno focuses on Donald Trump’s beef with Obama. The two also joked about Obama’s bad performance in the first presidential debate with Mitt Romney.

“Clearly I had a bad night,” Obama said at the time. “The whole point of debates is to make sure the American people understand the stakes.”

First Lady Michelle Obama has also appeared on the Tonight Show. She sat down with Leno last August to chat about an embarrassing kiss cam incident the week before.
