Randy Travis out of surgery after stroke, George Jones’ widow and country stars pay tribute

Randy Travis is out of surgery after suffering a stroke Wednesday. Meanwhile, stars from around the Country music community continue to send their thoughts and prayers to Travis, who is still in the hospital.

As we previously reported, Travis’ publicist Kirt Webster said late Wednesday night that he underwent surgery to “relieve pressure on his brain” after suffering a stroke. He has been hospitalized since Sunday night.

Later, the hospital confirmed that Travis is out of surgery, reports CNN. “Mr. Randy Travis is out of surgery and in critical condition,” the hospital stated on its website.

Travis is surrounded by friends and family at the Heart Hospital at Baylor Plano in Texas.

“His family and friends here with him at the hospital request your prayers and support,” Webster said, adding that updates will be released as they become available.

Country stars are recognizing the impact the Grammy winner, 54, has had on their careers and fans are using the hashtag #PrayForRandy on Twitter. “We're all pulling for you Randy,” Bar Paisley wrote. “Please continue praying for @randytravis,” the Grand Ole Opry added.

In a statement to The Associated Press, Nancy Jones, the widow of the late country legend George Jones, recalled how Travis helped her after Jones’ death.

“Randy and George Jones were good friends,” Nancy Jones told the AP. “When I was dealing with George's issues a few months ago, both Randy and Mary were right there for me. I had to get on a plane and come see him. I love him and I know that George is looking over him during this time.”
