Swarm of thousands of bees attacks Texas couple, killing their two horses

Kristen Beauregard, 44, was exercising her two miniature horses in her North Texas home when they were attacked by a swarm of 30,000 bees, killing both of the horses.

CBS reports that Beauregard was exercising Chip, a show horse, and Trump, a Shetland pony, when the bees attacked, stinging her over 200 times.

Beauregard, who is now recovering from her stings, said she jumped in the pool with Trump in an attempt to get the bees off of them, but they continued to attack.

“It got all dark, like it was nighttime there were so many bees,” she said, according to Star-Telegram. “We were trying to stand up in the water but every time we stuck our heads out for air, they would cover us and start stinging us. We were trying to breathe and they were stinging us in the face and in the nose.
She eventually escaped the swarm and ran into the house, but the bees still followed her. Her boyfriend, who was inside the house calling 911, was stung over 50 times.

Firefighters arrived soon after and tried to save the horses, but it was too late. The bees also stung their dog and killed five of their hens.

A beekeeper was sent to dispose of the dangerous hive, and a sample was sent to authorities to determine if the hive was of Africanized honeybees, which are killer bees.
