Trailer Park- 7/5 Edition: 'The Lone Ranger' and 'Despicable Me 2' hit theaters

Well-known actors head many of this week’s new releases. Steve Carell reprises his role as Gru for Despicable Me 2 and co-stars in a new comedic drama. Johnny Depp dons makeup and a headdress to play a popular radio and TV show character, giving an old story a new twist.

The tales of a masked man in the Old West who fights crime are told in The Lone Ranger. The stories are shared through the perspective of a Native American spirit warrior who accompanied him on his mission for justice. Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer, Tom Wilkinson, and Helena Bonham Carter star in the PG-13 remake. The action adventure film runs for two hours and twenty-nine minutes.

The Minions are back for Despicable Me 2. In the follow-up to hit 2010 film, Gru is taking care of the girls when the Anti-Villain league comes knocking on the door asking for his involvement. He is called on to stop a high profile thief trying to become the greatest villain. The PG animated film features the voices of Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig and Benjamin Bratt. It’s playing for one hour and thirty-eight minutes in conventional and 3D theaters.

Comedian Kevin Hart takes the stage at Madison Square Garden for a sold out show in Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain. The comedic documentary showcases his standup and provides look at the man behind the mic as he travels the world on his record-breaking tour. The one hour and fifteen minute film is rated R for language and sex.

A divorced writer struggles to put his life back together in Stuck in Love. Despite being divorced for three years after his wife cheated on him, Bill can’t seem to stay away from his ex. While he yearns for love, his son and daughter are going through relationship issues of their own and trying to make it as writers. Greg Kinnear, Jennifer Connelly, Lily Collins, Kristen Bell, Logan Lerman, Patrick Schwarzenegger and Stephen King star in the one hour and thirty-six minute dramatic comedy. The limited released film is rated R for drugs, sex and language.

Steve Carell, Toni Collette, Allison Janney, AnnaSophia Robb, Sam Rockwell, Maya Rudolph, Liam James, Amanda Peet and Rob Corddry star in The Way, Way Back. In the coming of age film, an outcast teenager finds happiness while working at a water park. His friendship with the park manager opens him up to new opportunities and increased self-confidence. The PG-13 comedic drama is playing for one hour and forty-three minutes in limited theaters.

A young woman nearly nine months pregnant mysteriously loses the baby overnight in Absence. The woman, her husband and doctors have no idea where the baby went, causing investigators to treat it as a missing child case. In order to escape the public eye and try to figure out what exactly happened, the woman, her husband and brother escape to a cabin in the mountains. The unrated horror film runs for one hour and twenty-two minutes. It’s available in limited theaters.

Two acquaintances looking to escape their lives go on a road trip together in Just Like a Woman. With one fleeing from her marriage and the other from a potential murder rap, the two travel across the country, bellydancing for money. As they continue on their journey, their bond grows stronger. The one hour and thirty minute comedic drama is playing in limited theaters. It’s rated R for language and sex.

A young Viking goes on a mission to find his banished brother in Hammer of the Gods. He learns to put his feelings aside as he battles his way to his father’s throne. The limited released action adventure film runs for one hour and thirty-nine minutes. It’s rated R for violence, language, sex and nudity.

Kevin Hart brings his comedy to the big screen this week. Next week, comedians Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock and David Spade join forces once again for Grown Ups 2.
