'True Blood' Episode 7 recap and highlights: 'In the Evening'

There’s only three episodes left until the much anticipated season six finale, and the stakes are growing higher and higher.

Tonight we lost a key player in the vampire crew while the rules in vamp camp became stricter as the human-vampire battle continues.

Here are some highlights from tonight’s episode:

- Sarah passionately kissing Governor Burrell’s decapitated head

Driving down a dark road while repeating “God is good,” the ever so villainous Sarah Newlin comes face to face with the Governor’s bloody head lying on a statue around the murdered guards. How does she react? She passionately kisses his mouth and assumes all God’s power by putting a plan into action.

Her first step is to eliminate Jason from the LAVDF by cutting his wrist and feeding him to the vampires. Tara jumps to protect him but is stopped when mysterious vampire Violet claims him. And from the preview it looks like she’s about to have a feast.

- Jessica giving her thanks

When Jason pulls Jessica into a private room and says he’s going to save her, she refuses his help. Knowing she’s going to meet the sun from Bill’s vision, she wants to take advantage of her vampire life to its fullest.

That being said, she asks Jason to arrange a meeting for her with James, the broodingly handsome vampire that refused to have sex with her in the previous episode. Jason grants her wish and Jessica demands privacy. What started off as deep talk turned into Jessica wanting to have sex with him to experience sex with another vampire before she meets the true death. And oh, do we think she enjoyed it! But c’mon Jess, wasn’t that a little bit of a low blow to poor Jason?

The party don’t start til {Bill} walks in

Bill definitely lived up to the definition of showstopper when he walked into Arlene’s house, which was full of chaos and grievance. In the midst of Arlene’s drunken state, she is mesmerized by Bill walking in the day. He gives his condolences to Arlene and Andy and demands a private talk with Sookie.

He begs Sookie to bring Warlow to him because it is the only way he will be able to change his vision of the vampires meeting the sun. And if that wasn’t enough, he tells Sookie that her friend’s lives are on her.

-Nora melting into Eric’s arms

Why is it always so heartbreaking to see Eric in pain? When Eric learned there was nothing he could do to save Nora from the virus she was injected with, Eric remembers how he saved Nora the first time they met. In a truly heartwarming moment of Eric’s heroism, Nora slowly melts into Eric’s arms. And it wasn’t pretty. It was probably the saddest thing we’ve seen all season besides Arlene bawling at Terry’s grave.

If Nora’s death doesn’t give Eric motivation to stop the LAVDF we don’t know what will! We’re expecting Eric to go full on revenge on vamp camp now.

Meanwhile...

-Sam learns the news of Terry’s death and knows he must ignore Alcide’s threats and travel home. Meanwhile, Alcide tells his pack that Sam and Nicole are dead, however, the wolves captured and held hostage Nicole and her mother. Looks as though Sam is in some grave danger when he returns to Bon Temps

-Pam creepily seduces her therapist. We don’t know all the details that happened – nor may we want to know – but watching the guy’s face at Pam’s blunt comments were priceless

-The mysterious box Terry left Lafayette with was opened and contained an envelope for Arlene, which ended up being a super generous amount of life insurance

-Sookie is able to read the thoughts of Andy’s daughter and learns she is fae like her. Perhaps they’ll team up somehow to help Bill and the vampires?

Be sure to tune in for episode 8, titled “Dead Meat,” next Sunday at 9pm on HBO.
