‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5’ directors reveal full title - ‘Dead Men Tell No Tales’

Norwegian directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg have revealed the full title of Pirates of the Caribbean 5, confirming that it will be subtitled Dead Men Tell No Tales.

This Is Infamous spoke with Rønning and Sandberg, who were promoting the Blu-ray release of the Oscar-nominated film Kon Tiki. The site noted that the two were enthusiastic about the script for Pirates 5 and then revealed the full title.

Rønning and Sandberg were officially hired for the job in May and follow in the footsteps of Gore Verbinski and Rob Marshall. Verbinski directed the first three and Marshall directed 2011’s At World’s End. Star Johnny Depp and producer Jerry Bruckheimer are returning.

“We've been on it now for a couple of months, so we are in preproduction. We are in our office at Disney in Burbank," Rønning told MTV News today. “It's just great, working with Johnny Depp and the Bruckheimer camp. It's a dream come true, really.”

Sandberg added that it has been a lifelong dream for the two, who have been working together since childhood.

"When we grew up in a small town in Norway, we started making little short films when we were 10 years old," Sandberg told MTV News. "What we were doing back then was trying to copy Indiana Jones and Star Wars and those movies. It is really a lifelong dream coming true now to make an epic adventure movie like this."

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales opens in July 2015.
