'American Idol' alum Justin Guarini on poor reports: 'I'm nowhere near poverty'

Former American Idol finalist Justin Guarini set the record straight on Thursday about his financial situation. One of his blog posts was misconstrued by the media, which resulted in many reports saying the singer was direly poor.

In response to the false reports, Guarini wrote on Twitter: "Obviously you completely missed the point of my letter @peoplemag. News isn't news anymore, and I'm nowhere near poverty. #twistedmytruth"

Many news websites were responding to a blog post on Guarini's official website. One excerpt reads: "I have spent days skipping meals in order to make sure I have enough. To make sure my children, and my wife have enough." From that line, it was assumed that Guarini was barely making ends meet, Zap2It reports.

On the contrary, Guarini has had plenty of work lined up since coming in second to Kelly Clarkson during inaugural season of Idol. He has been featured in the Broadway plays like American Idiot and Women on the Verge of a Breakdown. His next big project will be acting on stage in a production of Romeo and Juliet starring actor Orlando Bloom.
