App of the Week: Jim Henson's Chatter Zoo

This week, the App of the Week goes to a new child's app now available on iTunes. From the creator of Bear in the Big Blue House and Pajanimals, comes an app about four baby animals - Franny the cheetah, Bailey the elephant, Pip the wallaby, and Lulu the panda - living in Chatter Zoo.

While there are tons of apps out there for children, Chatter Zoo teaches kids how to teach. The game is designed for the children to help practice and "teach" the animals what they themselves would be learning, such as vocabulary development.

The app is similar to our generation's Tamagotchi. You can feed the animals, put them to sleep, play with them, etc. And who didn't love Tamagotchi?

The app is credited for its fun and exciting animation while also providing character development skills through 'Learn and Play' activities, interactive stories, and music to keep the children focused and entertained.

The app is available on iTunes for $1.99. It is geared for children ages 24 to 42 months.

Also, to help celebrate the launch of the app, the Jim Henson Company and Mindshapes are offering FIVE lucky readers the opportunity to win a free Chatter Zoo app download, and a specially created wall graphic featuring these adorable baby animals. The wall art is 12” x 12,” features 16 useable graphics, and will have an approximate retail value of $20 when they become available to the general public.
