Brandy's surprise South African performance turns into a flop, singer performs for 40 people

Brandy was not so pleasantly surprised Saturday when she appeared on stage as a surprise grand finale performer for Mandela Sports and Culture Day in South Africa and saw that she had next to no audience to perform for. Before “The Boy is Mine” singer could take the stage, nearly the entire stadium had exited leaving the singer to perform for only a handful of viewers.

According to The Guardian, Brandy performed for a mere 40 audience members in a stadium which holds 90,000 people. The 34-year-old singer walked off in embarrassment, opting to not finish her surprise performance.

“Brandy [just] performed to an empty stadium. With the stadium lights on," South African musician, Kabomo tweeted. "People didn't know there was a concert after the games. No one knew Brandy was around. Maybe a 40 people audience ... She sulked after two songs and walked off."

The Guardian notes that spectators usually tend to leave the event after the football and rugby events are over and before the musical portion can begin.

Brandy has not commented on situation.
