Charlie Sheen’s ‘Anger Management’ hires Laura Bell Bundy as new female lead

Charlie Sheen’s Anger Management finally has a new female lead, following Selma Blair’s dismissal in June. Broadway star Laura Bell Bundy will fill Blair’s shoes.

The show’s producer, Lionsgate Television, made the announcement on Monday, reports The Hollywood Reporter. Bundy is the Tony-nominated star of Legally Blonde: The Musical and has also appeared on TV with gigs on How I Met Your Mother and Hart of Dixie.

Bundy will play Dr. Jordan Denby, who works with Sheen’s Charlie character on sex-study research. She is a brilliant psychologist, but is on an emotional rollercoaster, having just been divorced and enjoys alcohol. The part was at first created as a recurring role, but will now be elevated to series regular.

Blair was dismissed after reportedly getting into a feud with Sheen, since she complained to producers about his horrible work ethic. He then asked that she be fired and that’s exactly what happened.

In addition to Bundy, the show has also gained Brian Austin Green, who was promoted from recurring player to series regular.

Anger Management airs on FX and Lionsgate is in the middle of production on the remaining 90 episodes that the network ordered after the first ten were a success.
