'Ghost Adventures' Season Premiere recap

Finally a new season of Ghost Adventures! The opening introduces Zak Bagans, Nick Groff and Aaron Goodwin in the same manner as last year. Some of the pictures are different, but the explanation by Zak of why they are doing what they do is the same.

The guys are at the Pioneer Saloon, Good Springs, Nevada, one of the oldest saloons in the country. The building has tin on the walls and wooden floors, all original. This is a mining town where many tragedies have occurred. This place was built in 1931 as an oasis for miners in the middle of the dessert. (what happens in the desert stays in the desert) Not only was the place full of miners, but they brought in 250 prostitutes for the miners entertainment as well. Over 100 years of violence and death, the owner, Noel Shekells informs the crew. He says he used to be a skeptic about ghosts until he encountered things in the saloon. Once he went into another room of the saloon and a mist started swirling around him and he was overcome with a peaceful, good feeling. He now feels he has a relationship with the ghosts present. There has also been the sound of a woman crying in the bathroom. He once thought it was an actual person and went to investigate, calling out to her, but the room was empty. The owner’s son, Tom doesn’t have such a good feeling about all of it. He’s scared and saw a figure of a cowboy with a hat on, he said he doesn’t like it at all.

The crew uses some trigger objects to see if they can get a response: the same card table,(circa 1915),where Paul Kowalski was shot after the discovery he cheated, cards, cigars and of course whiskey. About this time we saw some cool, but unnecessary special effects. More time could’ve been spent on the story and upcoming lock down. The guys said their research only shows one man killed there and that was P.C. Harris. Also, the 33 yr old wife of Clark Cable, Carol Lombard, (real name, Jane Alice) was killed along with 20 other people in a plane crash just outside of the town. They wondered if it could be her spirit crying in the bathroom, as her husband had spent a lot of time in the saloon, waiting for her to arrive.

There was also a mine that needed investigating: Bell Mine. People said that they heard strange noises coming from the abandoned mine. And at least one man was killed there. The guys also noted interesting petroglyphs left on the rocks by Native Americans.

The guys tool a climb into the hills after a gator ride to find the mine and can saw the actual site of the plane crash in the next hill. Nick and Tom went to investigate the site further and were overwhelmed at the sadness and loss of life. Pieces of the plane were everywhere; they even found the engine.

Zak and Aaron stayed at the saloon while Nick and Billy took the investigation of the mine. The audience was cautioned as to the danger of such an enterprise. As in past episodes, we were taken back and forth from lock down to the other investigation.

As the lock down began, Zak and Aaron heard something behind the bar and went to see what it was. Just at that time, back at the table they were just sitting at, the meter went off, light blinking! They rushed back to start asking questions. Zak read the coroner’s report out loud to see if they got a response. Zak asked, “What kind of liquor were you drinking?” Aaron asked, “What killed you?” In an apparent lag time answer, a voice said “whiskey”. Their batteries were suddenly drained and Zak asked for more interaction as the spirit now should have more power, but nothing happened.

Back at the mine, they crept and crawled through a maze of tunnels and untrustworthy ladders. They found bats and heard noises, but nothing really substantial.

In the Saloon, the guys moved to the women’s bathroom and started asking questions. They asked, “Who is here?” And he got an answer, “Ruby”. According to Jay’s research a woman named Ruby did live in Good Springs. Noel asked Ruby if she knows she is dead and they got a “yeah”. They also asked if someone was with her. She answered, “I think so”, then they asked who he is and she told them, “Paul”.

There was also an abandoned mine actually under the saloon, and they tried to investigate that, but there were too many spiders. (really?) So, they sat up a camera and recorder, but got nothing.

Zak and Aaron began to worry about Nick and Bill and drove out to find them. Nothing was to worry about as they met them coming to town. All is well, and at least they solved the mystery of the identity of the woman crying in the bathroom.
