Authorities believe they have found the bodies of 12 people who disappeared late May at the Rancho la Mesa ecological park in Tlalmanalco.
The bodies were discovered while authorities were investigating the property for possible illegal weapons, but instead found the grave of Renato Sales Heredia, an assistant attorney general, ABC News reports.
An anonymous investigator told news sources that the designer clothing led them to believe the bodies belonged to the 12 people abducted from a bar in Mexico City last May.
A witness who escaped the bar the night of the disappearances told authorities that the owner turned off the music, told patrons the police were coming, and then ordered the twelve to leave. The bar owner, Ernesto Espinosa, is among those indicted for the mysterious disappearances.
Some believe the disappearances are connected to a schism between two rival drug gangs operating in a nearby neighborhood.
An Al Jazeera reporter, Adam Raney, reported from Mexico City, “it is a high profile case in a capital that has long been seen as an oasis of safety during these several years of intense, gruesome, and grisly violence across the country.”
Authorities insist the city is still free of drug violence, but the disappearances are raising concerns among citizens.
