'The Biggest Loser' replaces trainer for a new and uncertified trainer

The Biggest Loser replaced trainer Sandy Krum. He was replaced by a younger man, named Ryan Applegate. The new trainer is not certified in California, which had upset some people affiliated with the show.

TMZ stated that sources connected to the show claimed former contestants and some staff members were upset. Those upset were concerned about Applegate not having a certification.

Sandy Krum had been on the show since 2007, but was "let go" before taping of the fifteenth season, according to a report by Guardian Express.

While the certification test is not required in the state of California, it does demonstrate the qualifications of a trainer. This aspect reassures contestant, whom are overweight and suffering sever health conditions, that they are being instructed by qualified and expert trainers.

According to TMZ, a show representative said, "The health and safety of our contestants is our #1 priority and the show is confident that the team of professionals they have hired to work with the contestants are qualified to do so."

NBC has not explained why Sandy Krum was let go, according to Examiner. Details about season 15 are unknown, but according to Examiner Ruben Studdard (former "American Idol" winner) plans to join the show.

The Season Premiere of The Biggest Loser airs October 8, Tuesday at 8 p.m. on NBC.
