Throwback Thursday: Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus can be neither tamed nor stopped. She just can’t, just won’t stop not wearing a bra , twerking , or writing incredibly deep lyrics that keep all 13 million of her Twitter followers hanging on every 160-character blurb the 20-year-old sends out into the universe. As the mega star prepares for the MTV Video Music Awards later this month, a performance that will bring the her one step closer to completing the full transformation into Miley 2.0 , Cyrus continues to dominate the media, making the pixie-cut heard ‘round the world seem like a mere rumble.

After saying goodbye to Hannah Montana , a show father Billy Ray Cyrus blamed for family turmoil, Cyrus’ Disney darling image went up in smoke after a video of the singer smoking salvia leaked onto the internet. Though the then 18-year-old later apologized , the scandal caused problems for Cyrus’ film LOL and prompted her to become the butt of jokes and judgment from other celebrities.

Following the incident, Cyrus was spotted with a cigarette in hand , perpetuating her “bad girl” image. The singer attempted to gain favor from the press by visiting Haiti and vocalizing her support for the gay community . However, Cyrus’ racy lyrics in her first post-Disney single “Can’t Be Tamed” forced fans of the young singer to accept that Cyrus had ditched the blonde Hannah Montana wig for good.

After a brief break from music and an engagement to Australian actor Liam Hemsworth in an intimate backyard moment , the so-called “slut” opened up about her future “dirty south hip-hop” vibe sound that came with her bleached-blonde cut . Anticipation for Cyrus’ new sound had fans wondering how large of a jump she would make from the classic tracks they had come to love.

“We Can’t Stop” debuted in the summer of 2013, following the singer’s controversial single “Ashtrays & Heartbreaks” with Snoop Lion. Both songs sparked rumors about Cyrus’ reported drug use and whether or not she could continue to be viewed as a role model .

Despite monopolizing the tabloids with gossip of the singer drinking and using drugs, Cyrus has reached out to fellow celebrities who seem to be heading down a dangerous path .

Regardless of controversy, Cyrus is blazing a trail for herself, documenting the production of her highly-anticipated fourth album BANGERZ and spending quality time with on-again, off-again hunk Hemsworth. Always one to stick to her guns about her fashion and music choices, Cyrus is going to continue “being Miley,” and we’ll just have to keep up, because we can’t stop, won’t stop following her every move.
