Apple's fingerprint technology allegedly hacked already

Apple’s new iPhone 5S hit markets less than 48 hours ago, and for everyone who thought the fingerprinting scans were cool – think again. It’s already been hacked.

A website decided to offer a staggering $16,000 cash prize to the first person (or group) who could successfully hack the fingerprinting touch ID on the brand new iPhone 5S. The website’s founder posted this on his Twitter account:

After the istouchidhackedyet.com’s founder announced the winner on his site- the German-based Chaos Computer Club (CCC), other publications like ZD began to worry regarding the legitimacy of the hack and if Apple iPhone 5S owners should be concerned. ZD spells it out plain and simple: if your information is that important, use more than one system of locking and protection.

CNN is also reporting on the lighting speed of the hackers, especially when they’re presented with a challenge. Not only did the swarm of self-proclaimed hackers crack the fingerprinting technology, they discovered that the iPhone 5S system responds animal prints in addition to human fingerprints. CNN attempted to reach Apple for a comment but Apple has yet to respond.
