Bill Nye injured on ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ may need surgery

Bill Nye the Science Guy, a celebrity dancer on this season of Dancing With the Stars, injured his knee during his performance this week and may need surgery.

ABC confirmed in a statement, “We can confirm Bill Nye was injured during his performance last night and is currently seeking medical attention,” according to deadline.

Nye and his dance partner, Tyne Stecklein, performed to Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, and Nye dressed up as Beethoven himself. Dancing With the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba called the piece a “weird, bizarre masterpiece of insanity.” Check it out in the video below.

Near the end of the dance, Nye fell to the floor, which appeared to be part of the dance; however when they were done, Stecklien admitted that Nye actually tripped. When asked if was okay, Nye replied, “Uh, well, yes.” But apparently that wasn’t the case.

Nye and Stecklein were set to perform the jive on next week’s episode. According to E News, Stecklien said she would be “very excited” to perform it and incorporate Nye’s “social swing background.”

Let’s hope he recovers in time – we wouldn’t want to miss that!
