Former Disney actor Dylan Sprouse says he’s ‘financially secure,’ despite working at a NYC restaurant

Dylan Sprouse, a former Disney actor who starred on The Suite Life of Zach & Cody, has taken to Tumblr to explain that he is financially stable, after it was rumored that he is working at a New York City restaurant.

In a post called “New Job,” the 21-year-old told fans that he did not lose all his money and explained why he took the job as a restaurant host.

“I did not take this job because I ‘lost all my money,’ I am financially secure, and took this job as a way to primarily feed my over bountiful video game addiction,” he wrote on Sept. 23. “I also [took] this as a way to try a new experience, working somewhat below the means I’m used to, as well as a way to socialize and get out of the house.”

He explained that he is “most comfortable” while working and out of his house, “to criticize someone of that is pretty odd.”

Sprouse, whose twin brother Cole also starred on the Disney show, added that he does hope to return to acting at some point. He doesn’t see the restaurant job as a step down, “but rather a new step in another direction.”

Zach & Cody ran from 2005 to 2011 and when the show ended, Sprouse and his brother decided to do their best to avoid the troubles usually associated with former Disney stars. Instead, they decided to go to college, notes Us Weekly. Sprouse picked NYU, where he is studying art and poetry.

“Historically, Disney Channel stars don't survive well outside of the Disney environment ... we decided that we should go and get a higher education,” Sprouse said in a YouTube video in May, notes the Huffington Post.
